Hiker Resources
Sawyer water filter – Use this daily to filter water collected from creeks, troughs or any other questionable water source. Also, you sleep with it on freezing nights. Don’t want a broken Sawyer,
FarOut– An app used by pretty much most hikers. Built in GPS tells hikers how close they are to water, camping, resupply locations, trail magic and free pie.
Day 4 we took a Zero (a day where no mileage was made) to nurse some blisters and swollen ankles.
Today, up and out by 6:45. Today was a big picture and big mileage day. We hiked at elevation all day, with great views of the desert far, far below.
We hit a milestone this morning. These mile markers are reason for elation. They pop up out of no where, and you cant help getting excited. Next one is 100.
We met up with some other hiker trash (I’m still a little squeamish calling people ”trash”, but its the accepted tradition) at midday. And we timed it perfect. A trail angel pulls up with a cooler of consumable trail magic, chilled apples and oranges. Hooray for Desiree, where ever you are. Everyone had hiked a minimum of 8 miles, and this magic hit the spot.
Happy hiker t——h
We stopped just short of 60 miles. On track for 100 miles by Friday…maybe.
