Today is my last day to post for a few days. I’m heading back to Oregon to start closing out the house, getting ready for the sell. Dropping off CornDog and Warrior Princess in Louisiana at my mother’s first. Waterboy will continue hiking for another 6 days, getting through Smokey Mountain National Park.
It was a rainy day today, so instead of hiking and providing trail magic, I set up the canopy I’ve been packing around, and put out a sandwich station. I did this on Yellow Creek Gap (mile 158.5), about 7 miles from the nearest AT shelter, so by the time hikers got to me, they would be hungry, as well as wanting to hide from the rain
Some other hikers who stopped by included Panda, Quirk, Taxi and Charlie.
Today’s hike ends at Fontana Dam (mile 164.6), the last stop before entering Smokey Mountain NP. Dogs are not allowed on the trail in SMNP.
At the dam a little more Spring color began to appear. It’ll be fun to see the change when I get back from Oregon.
Made it back to Shreveport, and look who’s waiting for us. It’s Bean Dip (Maebe’s trail name). She was treated very well.
