Day 9- March 11th (Franklin, NC / 109 miles)

Full day of hiking before getting off at Rock Gap, for a zero in the town of Franklin, NC. Franklin has developed into a major resupply for the AT. Lots of good pictures today.

A very cold day to hike. It didn’t get much warmer than this.

Lots of gap hiking today.

A new state means new shelters.

This rock was really reflecting the light from flakes of minerals exposed. Did not translate to photo very well.
So cold, ice was coming up out of the ground in these ribbons.
A very picturesque water source.

Approaching and summiting Albert Mountain, mile 99. 5213 feet.

Warrior Princess looks pretty good here.
Fire lookout at the top of Albert mt.
These stairs are the only way up.

This is Not Yet. She is a trail ambassador for the southern portion of the AT.

More trail angels and AT hikers I ran into today.

This is Dreamer, Jen, and dog Victory. Came down from New Hampshire to support a hiker friend, and disturbed some magic.
Trail magic comes in many forms.
