Song of the post – “Roam” by the B-52s

Today we begin our 60 mile hike through the Mount San Jacinto range. We are giving ourselves 3 1/2 days to make it across. Roughly 5000 ft elevation gain on the S. side, and 8500 ft elevation loss on the N. side when we are done. We will start from Paradise Valley, and finish near Cabazan.

The Paradise Vally Cafe is one of those legendary meeting places for PCT hikers. Get a quick meal, and pick up a supply package you sent yourself to get through San Jacinto. Below is their package depot.

Todays hike was kinda brutal. Not super long(13 miles) but alot of sun, desert and very exposed. And about 2000 ft of elevation. Very pretty to look at.

We camped at a little under 7000 ft. This was our view. Not too shabby. Tomorrow we need to do alot more miles to stay on schedule.
