Days 80-82, May 29th-31st (3 days in route to Boiling Springs, PA, mile 1136)

This section had us come out of the mountains, and for a few brief days, we were hiking through flatlands. The fields, woodlands, and meadows made for some nice variety.

We’re going to take 2 days off trail after this section, and head into Philadelphia for some distractions.

Crossing a creek with a natural bridge. The bridge was made up of rocks and a root system of a large tree that had been removed. The roots portion was substantial, but hard to photograph with depth.

We were being stalked while hiking 😊😄

Here are some of the meadows the AT crossed. It made for a pleasant hike.

Ran into Couch on this section. Our first meeting. Friendly talkative fella.

The AT takes you through the town of Boiling Springs, PA. Displayed here are various photos captured while hiking through the historic town.

We were fortunate to see these baby swans roaming and relaxing.

I came across this dated Appalachian Trail information display.

WaterBoy came across another ancient cemetery along the trail near Carlisle, PA. The Chambers Farm Cemetery is very beautiful. I discovered several references regarding it online. I’ve provided a link to one below.
