Day 27 – Wrightwood to Acton – Day 1 mile 384

Song of the post – “Son of a preacher man” by Dusty Springfield.

Got an early morning (5:45) ride up to the Inspiration Point/PCT trailhead to begin the 4 day hike from Wrightwood to Acton, about 80 miles. Acton is our next resupply mail drop pickup.
We met some hikers early, including this little guy. Meet Trail Angel Digby, who gave us some much appreciated filtered water.

The elevation high point for this stretch is Mount Baden-Powell (Boy Scout Founder), which is early day 1. 3000 ft climb WITH FULL PACKS, 6400 to 9400 ft. We hit it early to avoid the heat and enjoy the morning coolness.

The rest of the day was hiking the ridge , staying above 7000 ft. Some great views from the ridge.

Camped that night at the Little Jimmy Campground in the northern San Gabriel Mountains. 5 ⭐️ . Everything you could want; trees, spring, picnic tables, lots of tent spots and bear boxes. Yep, we’re in Bear Country.

Since separating from Cliff, all of my meals have been prepared by soaking in cold water. He kept the stove. Takes some getting use to, but it works just fine.

A good day, and a lovely view to fall asleep to.

Fell asleep looking at this.
