Song of the post – “It’s Raining Men” by The Weather Girls
Over the course of these 3 days I left the desert soap opera that is the Acton KOA, hiked to Agua Dulce, via Vasquez Rock (more on that next), through the equestrian centered community of Green Vally, and camped within 10 miles of Hiker Town.
We also checked off our first month of tackling the PCT. That is huge to me, not sure how Cliff feels about it. A month of eating how we eat, sleeping how we sleep, and not bathing very often, well i had my reservations.
Vasquez Rock park is well known for all the movies and tv shows that have been partially filmed within it’s acreage. Star Trek and Planet of the Apes to name a couple. I loved it.
Towards the end of the stretch I made it to the 500 mile marker. Very happy moment.
A big call out to Ranger Rachel. The last day of this stretch was difficult for numerous reasons, but paramount was the scarcity of water. I was so grateful every time I came upon her, and we cross paths three times that day. Every time I saw her she offered water, and it kept me going. Also every time I saw her she had a big smile on her face, seeming to enjoy her day studying wildflowers. No picture of her, just her jeep. Thank you, Ranger Rachel.
