Yesterday we said ”goodbye” to Hood River, and had a customary wet/cold trip to PDX. Our personal Trail Angel, my mother Charlene, dropped us off. I had a scare, at security my license was missing, and thought I’d left it in HR. Luckily I had forgot it at bag drop off. Whew 😥.

In San Diego, we decided to walk with our packs from the airport to our motel on Coronado. Never miss an opportunity to get in some training. And it’s pretty much all beautiful waterfront. Also, we got a ferry ride.

If you’re ever in/on Coronado, we recommend the Crown City Inn. Right in the middle of the island, on bustling Orange Street.

We ended the day around a fire-pit on the beach outside the Hotel Del Coronado, (or the “Hotel Del” as my pretentious friend Cindy calls it) . It was just there, how lucky. I have a feeling this is a glimpse into our future, lounging around open fires.

Today, our free day, consists of lite last minute shopping (fuel canisters, glove covers and 4 water bottles), and practice setting up my tent at the beach a couple of times. Its also Cliff’s birthday, so we have to address that some how. Tomorrow morning we head to Campo, and to the trail.
