To begin, hiking tallies for the month of March. Keep in mind time off trail for moving (WB 10 days, OC/WP/CD 17days), not starting the trail until March 3rd, and all other obstacles:

WB/WP/CD – 280 miles / OC – 100 miles

My day started at Allen Gap (290), and hiked south. This way I can run into hikers and disperse some magic.

Ran into Lucky (waving), who I’ve come across a couple times, back in Georgia at Stairwell Gap and also at the NOC in North Carolina.

The other fella is Frodo from New York. I controlled myself, and didn’t say something silly, like “Oh, you’re taking the long way home.”. So many hikers are from states along the trail, it’s so easy to fall back on that eye roller 😒 .

They were polite and accepted some TM, which has been a little hard to hand off these days. I’m catching people with either full packs, after they’ve resupplied, or they are getting off the trail very soon. It comes down to not needing the weight.

Also ran into a new hiker I’d not met before. A nice fellow going by Flash. No photo.

I’ve been toying around with a Portrait setting on my new phone. Sometimes it works, and sometimes, well not everything needs to be in portrait.

A good portrait
And not so good

I’m challenging myself by taking these fairly mundane photos, and using the various filters and color settings to create something interesting.

The AT has the most diverse trail markers. Whenever I think I’ve seen them all, I’m surprised by something new. This one is similar in shape to the standard PCT marker.

Waterboy hit a milestone today, Mile 300!!
